You often thought about what had happened in your life to lead you to where to this moment. You were a young, powerful senator who was leading the charge towards world peace. This put you on the hit list of many terrorist groups. You definitely weren’t the young girl from (hometown) anymore.
It was because of the constant threats on your life, and the nagging of your advisors, that you hired a bodyguard.
“An unfortunately attractive bodyguard,” you thought.
Ivan Braginski was tall and strong. He had light hair and violet eyes. He was also one of the most intimidating men you had ever seen. Hence why he made the perfect bodyguard.
You pulled your (h/c) hair into a tight bun and smoothed out your pencil skirt. Letting out a breath, you walked out of your home and into the backseat of the black car that was waiting for you. You busied yourself with papers and such, trying to avoid looking at the man next to you.
“Good morning, Miss (lastname),” Ivan said.
“Good morning Ivan, and please call me (name),” you said glancing at him.
He was wearing a black suit and black tie. Unlike most security guards however, he didn’t wear sunglasses, so you always had access to his beautiful eyes.
“Very well, (name),” Ivan smiled. “I have something for you.”
“Whatever for?” you asked surprised.
“It is your birthday, da?” Ivan asked with a tilt of his head.
Your…..what? You had completely forgotten it was your birthday. You were so caught up with work that a birthday seemed like a trivial matter. You blushed at your stupidity.
“Oh, of course! Ivan you really shouldn’t have done anything for little me,” you stammered.
“I wanted to,” he smiled.
Ivan dug through his coat pocket for a while before he produced a little white box with a pale blue ribbon around it.
“Happy Birthday, (name),” he said, handed it to you.
Blushing, you hesitantly pulled off the ribbon. Lifting the lid of the box, you gasped. Sitting in the box was a necklace on a silver chain with a single pendent. The pendent was a beautiful, jeweled sunflower. You turned to Ivan.
“Ivan, it’s beautiful,” you breathed.
“You like it then?” he asked worriedly.
“I love it,” you smiled. “Will you help me put it on?”
He smiled and picked up the necklace. You turned away and held still as his arms moved around you to put the necklace in place. You felt his breath on your neck and it sent shivers up your spine. All to soon, he leaned away.
“Done,” he said.
“Thank you,” you said softly.
The rest of the trip was spent in comfortable silence, with Ivan sending you a little glance every now and then. When you arrived, Ivan got out first and walked around the car to open your door. You were greeted with camera flashes and the combined voices of reporters. You stepped out of the car and allowed Ivan to escort you up the steps of the building.

You let out a breath of relief. You were finally done with work for the day. You were walking out of the building with Ivan by your side, when you realized you had left behind your purse.
“Ivan, I forgot my bag,” you sighed.
“I’ll get it for you,” he offered.
“You really don’t have to do that.”
“I want to,” he smiled. “I’ll return soon.”
You smiled as he retreated down the hall. You considered going after him but you never got the chance. Just as Ivan got out of view a hand snaked around your mouth and your waist. You struggled against your assailant but he was stronger than you. Desperate, you bit his hand, forcing him to momentarily remove it.
“IVAN!” you screamed.
Your kidnapper cursed and shoved a gag in your mouth. You continued to fight as you were dragged down the hall.
Ivan whipped his head in the direction of your voice. You sounded terrified. Without a second thought Ivan sprinted down the halls to the sound of your voice. He burst through the doors outside just in time to see you being pulled into a sleek black car that sped away. His purple eyes darkened dangerously.
“Nobody take’s what’s mine,” he muttered to himself. “I’ll get you back, (name).”
~~~~~IT’S A TIME SKIP DDD~~~~~
Your kidnappers had tied you up and blindfolded you in the car. When the car stopped, you were carried inside, and tied to a chair.
“Leave us,” one of your kidnappers commanded.
You heard footsteps fall away and a door open and shut. You felt the presence of someone in front of you.
“So, Miss (Last/Name), I hope you had a pleasant journey,” the kidnapper taunted you.
You struggled against your bonds when you felt him get closer to you.
“I bet you’re wondering what is going to happen to you. Well, we’re going to ransom you. See how much that pretty face is worth. Then after we receive the money, we’re going to shoot you,” he said, breathing on your face.
Tears sprang from your eyes behind the blindfold. You were so scared.
“Don’t have much to say now, do you Senator?” he said, caressing your face.
Out of nowhere, you both heard a loud bang. Your abductor cursed and called out to his accomplices. There was no reply.
“Hello?” your captor called.
“Kolkolkolkoklkolkol…” was the reply.
You heard footsteps and a struggle. You fought to escape your bonds but you were stuck. You heard the thump of a body hit a floor and sudden stillness. You heard footsteps come towards you and hands on your ties. Warm, gentle hands untied you. When your hands were free, you immediately removed your gag and blindfold. You looked up at your rescuer.
“(Name),” Ivan breathed.
“Ivan,” you whispered.
Suddenly the world got fuzzy, and you slipped out of your chair. Before you hit the ground, you felt Ivan’s warm arms embrace you, and the world got dark.
~~~~~IT’S A TIME SKIP DDD~~~~~
You woke up on your couch. You were covered in a blanket and your shoes had been removed. Confused you sat up and looked around. Ivan had his head in his hands in a chair across the room.
Ivan snapped his head up. He got up and sat next to you of the couch. He glanced at you out of the corner of his eye.
“How are you, (name)?” he asked.
“Fine,” you answered awkwardly.
You began to finger your necklace, thinking. You looked again at Ivan’s face and could see the guilt clearly written there.
“Ivan, do you think this is your fault?” you asked him.
“It is my fault, (name)! I am your bodyguard! It’s my job to keep you safe, and I failed,” he said, sadly.
You took his hands in yours and tried to look him in the eye. He kept his eyes on the floor however.
“Ivan, look at me,” you commanded.
Reluctantly, he obeyed.
“Am I hurt Ivan? No. Am I dead? No. I’m safe Ivan, thanks to you. You didn’t fail at all, I couldn’t have asked for a better bodyguard,” you said strongly. “It’s one of the reasons I lo-”
You slapped a hand over your mouth, blushing profusely. Ivan had an amused smile on his face.
“What was that, (name)?” he asked.
“I love you, Ivan,” you mumbled, hiding your face in your hands.
Ivan smiled gently, and removed your hands from your face. He leaned in and captured your lips with his. You melted as the contact and threw your arms around him, deepening the kiss. He pulled you closer by your waist and you tangled your hands in his hair. Finally, the two of you pulled away, breathing deeply. You leaned against each other, foreheads resting together.
“I’ll always protect you,” Ivan promised.
“I know,” you said, kissing his cheek.
He smiled and pulled you in for another kiss. As you kissed, he scooped you up bridal style and carried you upstairs. He walked into your room, placed you on the bed, and shut the door.
“I love you, (name).”
